I've been trying to work out when I first started with photography, it's somewhere between a lifetime ago and the end of 2015. I bought my first SLR back in 2002 with the Canon 300V, which means I can legitimately say I started with film photography., even though I had no idea what I was doing and had my photos processed in Boots.
Over the years I dabbled every now and then, including some Motorsport, macro and wedding photography (though not all at the same time, that would be difficult). As time passed by I upgraded from film to Digital, moving from the 300V to the 350D and later the Canon 50D.
My earlier shots can be found on my Flickr account, although there is some overlap with this site. If I can remember my login details I might download some of the better ones and bring them over one day:
These days I'm all about landscape photography.
It all clicked for me back in November 2015 with a trip to Isle of Skye, which I did with the superb Dawn2Dusk photography (www.dawn2duskphotography.co.uk). It was a bit of an inspiration to my photography, and I haven't looked back since.
It's that trip, in Skye, where I feel I started to properly learn photography, several years after I first picked up that film camera.
All photos on this site were taken by me and have been taken since November 2015. My main camera is a Canon 5diii and use a selection of L series lenses and Lee filters. I also have a DJI Mavic Pro for Drone photography so there will be shots from that available soon.
Outside of photography I'm usually spending time with my girlfriend, Lucy, or offshore rowing with my local club in Exmouth (Exmouth Rowing Club). I also work in IT for a day job. I live in Exmouth, Devon, England.
About the Site
This website started out life as www.johnsbrothers.photography - due to personal reasons my Brother, Andy, had to pull out of the site but I wanted to build upon what we started and keep it going under my own name.
Not so funny story - in the process of removing Andy's shots from the various gallery's I managed to delete every image on the website. I almost cried. Mostly recovered but I did lose all the image names, tags, locations and descriptions!
This site is going to be largely dedicated to landscape photography as that is where my interests lie but I may end with other types of image as time goes on. We'll see!
A shop will be available soon as will a blog. I will also be tagging every image with the location using the excellent www.what3words.com so you can see where I took the shots from.
Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram - links along the top of the site. Always nice to have people stop by!
Finally, here's me in a forest taking photos whilst eating Smarties. It's just how I roll.
